When it comes to bridal showers, the possibilities are endless. From classic tea parties to extravagant destination getaways, brides-to-be are constantly seeking unique and memorable experiences. When my best friend was getting married a few years ago she had one request for her bridal shower... to make it as UNTRADITIONAL to what you would typically find at a normal bridal shower.
As avid Kacey Musgraves' fans, we brainstormed and drew inspiration from her hit song "Space Cowboy" to come up with the theme that seamlessly blended the cosmic allure of the Wild West with stunning monochromatic floral installations and playful disco balls. This celestial celebration was truly one party that people still talk about to this day! (Side note: my background was in event planning before I switched to florals, so when it comes to parties I KNOW how to throw a good one.)
A bridal shower is incomplete without the presence of breathtaking floral arrangements, and Brooke's Space Cowboy celebration took this tradition to a whole new level. This was the very first floral installation I created before I had started working with other florist learning the tricks of the trade. I had zero experience and no idea what I was doing. I just had a vision and I googled and pinterest'd (yes, I made that word up) the hell out of of how to's until I felt like I had a solid plan in place.
The monochromatic floral installation became the centerpiece of the event, the backdrop for all our pictures and the center of the dance floor. I LOVE texture in an arrangement, so I spray painted the plumosa and babies breath to create a color palette of dusty pastels to deep pinks and white, and then added in this fun variety of hydrangea and wax flower. By keeping the flowers within a single color family, the installation created a visually striking ambiance that captivated guests as they entered the backyard.
Adding a touch of whimsy and playfulness to the celestial atmosphere, disco balls were cleverly incorporated into the decor. Known for their ability to reflect light and create a dazzling display, the disco balls brought a cosmic sparkle to the event. Suspended from the installation and strategically placed around the backyard, they transformed the space into a twinkling galaxy, reminiscent of a star-studded night sky. As the guests danced and mingled, the disco balls reflected light, creating a magical atmosphere that perfectly complemented the theme.
To further immerse guests in the Space Cowboy experience, as they entered the backyard they were greeted with the CUTEST (in my opinion) cowboy boot shot glass. Shots go down easier when you're distracting by how cute they are, right?
The night was one to remember, we CELEBRATED this bride to be hard, maybe a little too hard. As the night progressed the backyard turned into a full on club experience. We danced until the wee hours of the night. We treated our bride to individual GoGo style dances, the bride broke a heel challenging someone to a WOP dance off, (and a tooth by the end of the night... has enough time passed I can admit this now?), and someone (not naming any names) painted one of my white columns with their wine stained hands.
This party and installation is one of my most top pins on Pinterest, and it's crazy to me how much attention it has brought since I had zero experience at the time of making it. I think it's time to throw another party, and create a bigger and badder installation to show how much I've grown and how far my skills have progressed since then. Round two anyone??
